The MECH ZA5XC AWWA Socket Resilient NRS Gate Valve uses socket end connections to mate directly with ductile iron pipe spigots — making it an excellent isolation valve for buried AWWA water distribution mains where flanges and bolts would otherwise complicate the installation.
Inside, the valve features a ductile iron body, an EPDM-encapsulated resilient wedge (potable-water rated and manufacturer-marked), a smooth machined non-rising spindle and the trademark MECH 5 O-ring sealing arrangement including an outer wiper ring. A full EPOXY coating and hot-melt corrosion-protected bolting protect the casting against aggressive soils and prolonged submersion.
